I wrote the first devil’s “lesson” from Millstone University taught by “Tapeworm” to a class of demons, a Screwtape Letters kind of thing.
But I took it down and need to redo it. To speak like that, even in parody, is painful. The tumultuousness of this time has been good for me in a way in that it has clarified to me on a very deep level that I love Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and without Him I am nothing.
I love the One described in the first chapter of John with all of my heart, and will stick with Him no matter what else I have to lose. I say that like Peter said it, and I pray that I have the courage to do it if and when I am persecuted for my faith. Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Lord, come to my assistance; Oh God make haste to help me.
Jesus, please give me the guidance to speak the truth, and strength to face the persecution that may come my way if I do so.
This is the first chapter of John from the Bible:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be what came to be.
In Him was life, and this life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…….”
Read the rest—–it is so beautiful!
There’s also a lovely book by Sarah Young called, “Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence.” It is wonderful to read every day at the beginning of the day, and I feel very enriched by having it for a year at least and beginning to read it anew in January.
Today the first line is this:
“I AM WITH YOU AND FOR YOU. When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth will stop you.”
Thank You, Jesus, and please help me to do Your will, to do good, knowing that You are the One Who gives me strength and guidance.
